One of my followers on Instagram has asked how they can get their institution (university/school) to help with The Online TAFL Coaching Program fees. Here’s a strategic approach to secure funding approval:
Build Your Case with Data
Document specific challenges in your current teaching practice – whether it’s student engagement, assessment methods, or curriculum gaps. Quantify these issues where possible (retention rates, student feedback scores, etc.) to create a compelling narrative for improvement.
Align with Institutional Priorities
Frame your request around your institution’s strategic goals. If they emphasize student success, highlight how enhanced TAFL methodologies will improve learning outcomes. If innovation is a priority, emphasize the cutting-edge approaches you’ll gain access to.
Present Clear Return on Investment
Outline concrete ways this training will benefit your students, department, and institution. Consider mentioning:
– Enhanced teaching methodologies that can be shared with colleagues
– Improved student satisfaction and retention
– Potential for presenting or publishing based on new knowledge gained
– Long-term impact on program reputation and enrollment
Leverage Program Credibility
Emphasize the expertise and credentials of the facilitators leading the Online TAFL Coaching Program. Their background and the program’s evidence-based approach will add weight to your proposal.
Propose Knowledge Sharing
Offer to conduct a workshop or presentation for your department upon completion (or monthly if you can!), demonstrating how the investment benefits the entire team, not just you individually.
Submit Early and Follow Protocol
